Staff Support

Like everyone, school staff experience the natural ups and downs of life. In a profession that carries significant emotional and professional demands, having access to supportive spaces for reflection and emotional support can be both meaningful and beneficial.

Supporting the well-being of school staff is essential for creating healthy and sustainable learning environments. Educators and school staff play a vital role in supporting the emotional and developmental needs of students, yet this work can often be emotionally demanding.

Our staff wellbeing support sessions provide school staff with a confidential, supportive space to reflect, process experiences, and prioritise their own wellbeing. By offering therapeutic support within the school setting, staff are given an opportunity to pause, reconnect, and strengthen their own emotional resilience.

By supporting the emotional well-being of school staff, we strengthen the entire school community. Students benefit when they see teachers and staff who are able to regulate their emotions effectively, creating a greater sense of safety, modelling healthy coping skills, and fostering respectful, positive classroom relationships that enhance learning outcomes.

The Importance of Staff Support

Teachers and school staff regularly navigate complex emotional situations while supporting students with diverse needs. Over time, these demands can lead to increased stress, fatigue, and burnout if adequate support is not available.

Providing accessible wellbeing support for staff can help:

  • Reduce stress and emotional exhaustion

  • Strengthen resilience and coping strategies

  • Support staff in managing the emotional demands of their work

  • Promote a healthier and more supportive school culture

When staff feel supported in their own wellbeing, they are better able to maintain positive relationships with students and remain engaged in their professional roles.

Creative Therapy for Staff Wellbeing

While creativity is optional in staff well-being sessions, creative therapeutic approaches can provide a powerful way for adults to decompress, reflect, and reconnect with their own well-being. Creative processes allow individuals to step away from the pressures of the school day and engage in reflective and restorative practices.

Through gentle creative activities such as drawing, visual expression, and guided reflection, staff can explore experiences, release stress, and develop greater self-awareness in a calm and supportive environment.

Creative approaches can be particularly helpful for individuals who may find it difficult to process workplace stress through conversation alone, offering an alternative pathway for reflection and emotional processing.

How the Sessions Work

Staff wellbeing sessions are offered in a flexible format designed to fit within the school environment.

After-school drop-in sessions allow staff to access support in a convenient and accessible way following the school day.

Schools may offer staff members up to six individual sessions, depending on demand. Session scheduling can be arranged in the following ways:

  • Weekly sessions for one staff member, or

  • Fortnightly sessions for two staff members

This flexible approach allows schools to provide meaningful support while responding to the needs of their staff community.

All sessions are conducted in a confidential and supportive environment.
